Not printed on the flyer
01
Oysters, a boil, yakamein, a snowball. A lot of people fly in for a plate they cannot get at home.
02
Frenchmen after dinner, brass on a corner, a second line if the Sunday is the right one.
03
The Quarter is an afternoon. The Garden District, the Marigny, and City Park are why the extra day exists.
04
A bookstore, an herb shop on Laharpe, a cocktail room that closes at 10. Hidden here means quieter, not secret-society.
05
This weekend is margaritas at Duncan Plaza, reggae at Empire, and a day party in Lakeview. Not all three.
A snowball is shaved ice and syrup, not a snow cone. Hansen's is the standard. The other three are the ones locals name next. Seasonal — if the stand is dark, it is the off months.
Sno-balls
The sno-ball the rest of the city is measured against. Fine ice, fruit syrups, a James Beard Classics award, and a line that moves faster than it looks.
Sno-balls
The neighborhood stand people defend. Opened as a back-door counter in 1945 and never left the corner. Chocolate and the old syrups are the order.
Sno-balls
The dressed-up snowball. Small-batch syrups — cardamom cream, cereal milk, king cake — on a Magazine Street walk.
Sno-balls
The stuffed snowball. Cheesecake and the richer modern flavors, in the Riverbend instead of a souvenir shop.
A run that meets this week, a pickleball court with a bar, the old athletic club on Rampart, and a pool that is not on a downtown roof. Confirm the club's pin the morning you go.
Run club
Free, all paces, walkers welcome. Their page says Wednesday at 6pm and Saturday at 8am. The October flyer puts Saturday in front of NOMA and Wednesday on the Lafitte Greenway by the Carrollton Winn-Dixie. They move the pin, including a Dillard meetup on October 21, so read the post that morning. Text MILES to 504-238-3278.
Pickleball
Indoor and outdoor pickleball with a bar and a kitchen. Open play is how a visitor gets on a court without a membership. Megan Denae's grid is one of the local pages that keeps showing up here.
Gym
Open since 1872. A guest pass gets you the historic indoor pool, dry sauna, steam, classes, and a building that feels like a club because it is one.
Hotel
Fourteen rooms, a restaurant, a lounge, and a pool, with the St. Charles streetcar at the curb. About 55k on Instagram. The porch works when the dining room is booked. DJ nights land here more often than at a chain lobby.
The Oak, Bayo, G's, the swim-up pool, the thrift rack, the riverboat. These are the doors, not the accounts.

Beignets
The square beignets under a blizzard of powdered sugar, and café au lait cut with chicory. This is the picture half the city exports.
Live music
No cover most nights, jazz that starts early enough to still feel like evening. The room is small and the band is close.
Oysters
Charbroiled oysters. Butter, garlic, parmesan, a shell you will burn your fingers on. This is the dish the videos are copying.
Park
Oaks, lagoons, the botanical garden, Storyland, the carousel, NOMA, and Café du Monde. In winter, Celebration in the Oaks turns the whole thing into a night drive of lights.
Cocktail bar
The candlelit bar inside Hotel Peter and Paul. A former church compound, a courtyard, and the cocktail people mean when they say staycation.
King cake
The king cake people drive for, from a James Beard-winning Vietnamese bakery. During Carnival they sell out, often before noon, and they cap how many you can buy.
St. Charles for the Garden District and Uptown. Canal for City Park. Riverfront along the edge of the Quarter. Pay with the Le Pass app or exact cash, and check the fare that day.
There is no streetcar to MSY. Rideshare and taxi have posted downtown rates. The RTA airport bus is the budget ride. Hotel shuttles exist; ask your desk before you land so you are not guessing at the curb.
The Algiers Point ferry is the cheap skyline. The Steamboat Natchez is the long version. Both leave from the edge of the Quarter.
Eating with Cait, Raj Smoove, Jazz Fest, Lauren's list. They are in the app as the reason a door is here. Tap one and the search opens on their name.
