Culture
Second lines, Mardi Gras Indians, jazz funerals — the living Black culture of the city, kept by the people who do it. Small, essential.
Parade
A social aid and pleasure club parade: brass, dancers, umbrellas, a moving block party. It is a living tradition, not a show staged for visitors. You are welcome if you are respectful.
Getting around
The moving porch. Mansions, oaks, Audubon Park, and the reason you do not need a tour bus. Canal and Riverfront are the other two lines.
