The Gulf, up close, on the riverfront at Canal. Easy with kids and easy to pair with the Insectarium next door.
Park
A riverfront park with the skyline across the water and the rusted wharf as architecture. Quiet in a way the Quarter never is.
Park
The bike and walk path from Armstrong Park toward Mid-City. The practical pretty way between neighborhoods.
Culture
Congo Square is where enslaved Africans were allowed to gather, drum, and dance on Sundays. The park holds that history, not a backdrop.
Cruise
The paddlewheeler cruise. A calliope, the port, and the skyline from the only angle that makes the Quarter look small. City of New Orleans is the running mate, same company, same Toulouse Street Wharf.
Tour
Cypress, gators, and a boat an hour from the Quarter. Book a licensed operator that picks up downtown so you are not driving a rental into a marsh.
Tour
A flat bayou through Mid-City, with City Park at the end of it. Kayak-iti-Yat is the longtime local operator.
Views
The pedestrian ferry to Algiers Point. Five minutes, the whole skyline, and a neighborhood that feels like a village on the other bank.
Run club
Free, all paces, walkers welcome. Their page says Wednesday at 6pm and Saturday at 8am. The October flyer puts Saturday in front of NOMA and Wednesday on the Lafitte Greenway by the Carrollton Winn-Dixie. They move the pin, including a Dillard meetup on October 21, so read the post that morning. Text MILES to 504-238-3278.
Run club
A fitness krewe: a run, then the second-line energy. The standing Monday is 6pm at Big Lake by the New Orleans Museum of Art entrance. The first Monday of the month has met at Port Orleans Brewing instead.
Walk club
A Saturday-morning walk that started in 2026 and already draws a real crowd. NOLA.com put the meetup near the Audubon Park golf course. The monthly schedule lives on their Instagram.
